Short explanation on Dual Native ISOs: Native ISO means no analog gain. So dual native ISO means when it’s not under exposed the two ISOs will have minimum noise. ISOs between 400 and 2500 will be analog gain added to low native

ISO400 and ISOs above 2500 will be analog gain added to high native ISO 2500.

There are a lot of popular tutorial on how to expose with which camera on Youtube and all kinds of review websites. Long time ago before I learned all necessary things I’ve seen massive similar articles and video tutorials. The more I read and the more confusion I had. There are a lot of “Should” but nobody explains “why” so it becomes a mysterious topic and then people invented ETTR.

I come from the camera side and learned post process from scratch. So I tried to understand every step of the process and then come back to camera to design the curve.

Atomos and Z CAM have today enabled 12-bit 5.8K Apple ProRes RAW over HDMI recording on the Ninja V HDR monitor-recorder in combination with the Flagship series Z CAM E2-F6, E2-F8 and E2-S6 large sensor cinema cameras, as well as 4K ProRes RAW recording from the Micro 4/3 E2, E2-M4 and E2 C models.

Atomos and Z CAM are today delighted to announce the development of ProRes RAW recording over HDMI from the E2 cinema camera to the Ninja V 5” HDR monitor-recorder. The Ninja V will record 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW at up to 4Kp60. This will give Z CAM users the best possible image quality from the camera.

Atomos and Z CAM are also announcing the development of touch-screen camera control on the Ninja V for E2 system cameras. Users will be able to operate their cameras and adjust key settings from the Ninja V’s AtomOS touch screen. These new cameras feature a new and slightly bigger body that takes feedback from original E2 users. You can currently choose from 3 different sensors which all come housed in the same small and modular body. The S6, which is a Super 35 6K sensor, the F6 which is a Full Frame 6K sensor & the F8, which is a Full Frame 8K. All three of the cameras feature dual native ISO, both the S6 & F8’s being 400 & 1250 and the F6 being 400 & 2500. The S6 is a great entry point into the flagship series, the sensor performs very well with great colour and dynamic range. However, if you have the extra the F6 is a no brainer. The increased sensor size doesn’t just mean you get the full-frame look, you also get a nicer image with improved dual native sensitivity and high ISO performance. The F8 is there for shooters prioritising resolution above everything else and if you don’t need 8K the F6 is a better choice.

With only minutes until sunrise aboard the International Space Station (ISS), astronaut Nick Hague rushed to shut off the lights in the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM). Traveling 17,500 miles per hour, the space station orbits Earth 16 times in 24 hours, so every 90 minutes, the space station experiences a sunrise. For this sunrise, though, the speed of their approach was putting a time crunch on Hague. To capture this moment, timing was everything as he worked diligently to set up the perfect camera shot.

With moments to spare, the camera was ready, the module was dark, and Hague positioned at the window of the JEM. The first orange light shot into the orbiting laboratory. Within a minute, the module of the space station was bright again, this time from the natural light of the sun.

I visited Z Cam at NAB 2019 to get a look and learn about two new cameras. The E2-S6 an S35 and full frame Z Cam that is 6k and another option will be a full frame 8k model. These are scheduled to be released later this year. Z Cam is on an innovation roll right now. Seems they keep coming out with new updates and ideas.

Wanting to learn more about Z Cam cameras they offered to send Newsshooter an E2 MFT for this review. Z Cam in no way was involved in the editorial process of this review. They were available to me for answering the questions I had while reviewing the camera.
